Dumb little bucks
Well I hunting all day on stand friday and all I saw was one small but tall 6 point being dumb and pacing back in forth in front of me for 10 min after tearing up a small cedar. I did see the nice 160 class shooter yesterday at 90 yards @ 6:33 and was hainvg nothin to do with grunts or rattlin. Again had a basket rack 6 point under my stand for 5 minute acting dumb. Just my luck the only deer I wont shoot show up and the does and big buck avoid the arrow. AHHH taking the bow to W. KS friday with the dogs. Roosters and Deer weekend with the two boys & 3 dogs!

Summer Sausage and Backstraps!
HOORAY HOORAY!!! :thumbsup: I finally got the stink of failure off me last week. Here is a pic of what backstraps and summer sausage looks like. Oh, and deer jerky, and deer chili, and deer tacos...
You can't eat the horns, you know...:cheers:
She had a fawn that was as fat as a bucket calf. I thought really hard about stickin' it too and ending my deer season, but I figured one was enough to field dress and drag back to the truck in the dark. Plus, I bought a new scope in the off-season and I already sighted in my rifle with it... It would be a shame just to let it sit for a whole year.
Got her just before sunset on Tuesday. The shot was a touch high, but it did the trick very quickly.

Awesome! I like the arrow placement in the pic!!! I am first a meat hunter then a Bone collector too. I missed a shot on a big doe in W KS on the opening weekend. Had a rookie mistake and didn't check my sight after traveling and my son's sight fell off and my sight got knocked off by 10 inches. Found out when my shot when wide left. fixed the issue and back out this weekend before rifle opens. That is the 2nd miss this season. Hope to de-skunk my self soon too. :thumbsup:

That wasn't for dramatic effect.
That's right where it hit and stuck there. She fell right over immediately and was stone dead within a minute. Didn't move a foot from where I hit her. Hope the next one is as easy to find.

That works! I think the bucks are locked down with does now. I did catch this nice buck on my trail cam last week by Valley Falls. I believe he is about 150 class 10pt from some other pics I have. I did trade jerky for deer hunting permission in W. KS. so going there 2nd weekend of rifle season to deer and rooster hunt.

Here's a pic dad got of his pet a couple days ago. The lights you see on the right side are his house. He emailed me yesterday and said he watched him at 3 in the afternoon yesterday working a scrape for 30 minutes or better, right out in front of God and everybody.

The rut seemed like it was in full force about 2 weeks ago out here in eastern Kansas, but I didn't see any sign of it this morning. I did see several nice bucks chasing does in NE Kansas over the weekend while pheasant hunting though.
