Thank you, that's what I was saying but I was trying to be more sly aobut it....Good god! How could you ever think about taking your dog off point? Wouldn't that cause your dog to walk away from a bird if you're talking to someone and tell them to come over here to flush the bird? Unless you use some other fancy words to tell a dog to come. Do they have laws against dogs going onto someones land? If so wouldn't the same rule apply with deer? What about foxes, coyotes, and bobcats? It's not like the guys walking the whole private field. Flush the bird or throw a stick at it if you are to up tight about taking a couple steps off the WIHA area.
I guess if my one minded dog is all about hunting birds and making me happy then yeah I guess he is one minded. I'm sorry that your dogs must like to chase butterflies or bees and not fully care about hunting...kinda one minded dogs I guess...
If your dog is still out there locked up, I'l bring him back to you after this weekend!!!if you dont mind gsh you go on the private i will wait until you flush them my way my dog that is still on point there sure would appreciate it we will work the singles and you can have the birds lol
Even if the landowner isn't "decent" or "reasonable" don't lose your cool with them and you should be just fine....Only A Pointer, I think that the land owner took your dog in and is feeding him and watering him until I go pick him up this weekend for you...I've got to agree with Kiote. I've been in this situation before. I take my vest off, lay the gun down on the vest. Cross the fence and go flush the covey. I think any decent and remotely reasonable landowner would understand. If not, let them call the authorities. Drop the tailgate and just wait for them. I am sure they will be very happy once they get all the way out there to hear what happened. Even rural authorities have much better things to do.
