What are the best boots

Somebody on one of these boot threads mentioned UA speedfreaks as a good boot in that class of cheap light boots. I've been through several pairs looking for waterproof light boots when I don't want to wear my Russels, which are heavy and tall. They are as described; light, waterproof, good traction without collecting too much mud, enough ankle support to handle side hilling in KS NEB. Warm to 10 degrees or so in snow. -8 and snow and my feet got cold with liners and a pair of Merino socks. I've worn them 15-20 days and have no complaints for the price range. They also make them in wide, 14 EEEE to be exact. Dicks had them on sale at Thanksgiving sale for 112 $. Worth a look if your in the market for boots.

Irish Setters

Uplander boots are amazing. Went seven years on the first pair. Just bought my second last week.

I assume that tread works well for you?

I pretty much lived in those boots. I wore them daily. Originally purchased in 2010. Resoled in I believe the spring of 2015($80) at Redwing store. Finally bought a new pair, not because the old ones were bad but the wife got tired of the patina i guess....lol Not once did they ever leak.

You can see the toe is redesigned and the new boots have stitching. TBD if better or worse. I can say this, I beat the crap out of those boots without a single issues. Mink oiled them quarterly(just an old rag and wipe down).

I think Gene Hill said "If you find something you like buy two, they will probably discontinue making them...

Hope this helps.

Liners

Where does one find "cool max liners?"

Thanks

Yup, Cabelas, Gander, Farm and Fleet. They make different weights. I use the very thin ones in warm weather when the sweat is heavy. It wicks right through. They are like hosiery, so if you are into that kind of thing it will get that done as well. I'm not, but everybody has to chart their course. Ha. I also use the heavier weight liners most of the time because I usually hunt late in the season. You don't sweat quite as much and they provide some warmth. X2 on no cotton. I wear no cotton anywhere and I don't let my 12 year old grandson either, when we hunt, ski in Montana, or ice fish. If you hunt alone in SD and wear cotton you will become hypothermic, freeze to death, and then be eaten by coyotes, wolves, or a mountain lion if you are in the right area. Good luck and have fun.
