Western Mixed Bag hunt

My son, a buddy, myself and our 2 dogs spent a day last weekend chasing birds. Ended up with a great mixed bag of wild birds: roosters, Columbian Sharptail grouse, and Huns. The Highlight of the day was my son killing his first Wild Rooster. He had several opportunities during the day, but finally connected on the biggest rooster of the day that held tight in a chokecherry/cattail slough. It had a 24" tail and Ivory spurs. Very nice bird.

We put in some miles but it was a great day for all involved.

Wow! What a Hunt

What a great hunt you had. Thanks for sharing the story and the photos.

Happy to hear you had a great hunt. The fact your son shot the biggest rooster is wonderful. Keep him hunting we need more young blood in the sport.......Bob

sounds and looks like a great hunt. Getting the birds is always a bonus, it's reward enough just being able to be out there and enjoy nature and the hunt and the company.

Bob, I get him out often and everywhere I can. I love spending time with him in the field.
