Well, think I lived for another season. :)

Second half of duck season opened yesterday in WI.

I got lucky. I missed the opening of the season cuz I was busy taking a helicopter ride to a hospital. Something about "Stents." VERY annoying.

Mick and I walked the crik, along where there was still standing corn. No joy.

Went further down to the harvested fields, and popped these two.

I got lucky: two up/two down. Mick went after the hen, which hid in the crik. I got the drake which dropped in the field.

Took Mick 5 minutes or so, and some repeated encouragement, but he came back with the hen.

Now, if I can last until pheasant season and THEN, find some birds, I'll consider this year as an "official" hunting season for me.

Take advantage of the time you have, it may not be as long as you think.

Nice pair of Woodies!!! Hope you get to feeling better and have many more great hunting seasons to come!!!!

With hunting like that it sure gives a guy a reason to stick around. Keep getting up, and getting out after it. Nice pics and great job on the shooting!

What kind of side by side is that?

Hunting is something to live for. Stay with us, friend.

Duckn?

That is my pride and joy, an AYA Matador II, 20ga, imp cyl and mod, 26 in barrel, vent rib, single selective trigger. I've had it since 1967 and it is the best shotgun for ME, I've ever held.

I got "dumb-lucky" and stumbled across it, used,at a gun shop in Blue Island, IL.

It is official, I made one more season! (Not official until the first pheasant comes home.)

Moved a couple of wild birds, but none at the state hunting grounds until today. This was the only bird (well, one very pissed-off turkey) that we saw.

Mick did well. Lord, I wish I'd find more birds for him. He's looking pretty smug, isn't he?

A good day: cool, light winds, sunny and with a pheasant. :)
