Weatherby drops Fausti line of O/U's and SxS's

I know after having several SKB built Weatherby O/U's. I was truly disappointed to see they dropped SKB and went to the Italian built Fausti's. For the first time in my life time, Weatherby does not have a O/U or SxS. I sure wish they could get the SKB line of guns back up and running. I wouldn't part with my Athena grade III for nothing!!!!

Maybe they will go back to SKB?

They traded down by going to Fausti!

Mo' money less gun:eek:

I have owned two SKB sxs guns and three O/Us. All as fine as you would want for the money spent, IMO.

SKB head and shoulders above the current Fausti line. I heard CSMC bought the tooling and used it extensively in the round body s x s line. I really liked the Ithaca imports originally, though I never shot them particularily well. As said a heck of a lot of gun for the money.

My research indicates that the Japanese factory which produced SKB shotguns closed in 2009. The US importer bought the existing inventory, parts, design rights, et.al. The plan has been to either buy the japanese factory, or resume production here or elsewhere. US company is in Omaha. Confusion may be enhanced by the fact that Guns Unlimited, a big SKB distributor, is also in Omaha, but NOT the SKB - USA company. Parts are readily avaiable. Maybe this fine design will be reborn in the USA. Apparently, CSMC did'nt buy the tooling, just emulated it with the round body. So much so that there are parts which interchange. There was no patent violation, all SKB's manufactured with a unique at the time, compilation of various designs, like Anson Deeley boxlock, Winchester 21 SST, patent protection expired years ago, so CSMC or SKB, or any of us welcome to the design.

As Scott pointed out, it was a mistake to switch brands and I'm sure they realize that fact now.

I have an SKB100 12 gauge SxS and it's well made and handles well. I've let several more expensive "fancier" doubles come and go, but this old Ithaca/SKB stays.

I have a simple gorgeous SKB built Weatherby Athens grade III 12ga. It operates like a Swiss watch. It was bought as my go to Pheasant gun at the time. It's been shot very little and just sits in the safe now. Shot some clays one day with it last spring.
