Waterfowl opener

What are your plans?

We are going to go hunt up by Baudette. Duck hunt in the morning, grouse hunt the afternoons.

If I don't feel better. This may be the first waterfowl opener I have missed since I began hunting nearly 40 years ago. My days afield may be coming to a end. My illness has been threatening that for sometime. Lets just hope I'm going through a bad spot and I get better soon.

If I am up to it, I do plan to check a few pot holes.

Good Luck to everybody. Be safe and ware your life preserver. If you go alone, make sure someone knows where you are and when you plan to return. I lost a good friend last Sept to falling over board well scouting. He could not re-board the boat or get to solid ground and died of hypothermia. We all want you here for many years to come.

Good hunting everyone.

I will have to wait till Sunday my daughter has a dance competition that day at 8am in St Paul:mad::mad:.
But I don't want my kido to label me a (Bad Dad)

I am sorry to hear that, Onpoint. I pray that you will make a recovery.

I will try and whack a duck out there for ya!

Thank you sir, what I have, has no cure. A progressive disease that will only get worse. It will have to take me kicking and screaming. I'm determined to get out this weekend.

Good Luck everybody

I will be headed out on Saturday but not Sunday. I put the finishing touches on my new boat blind today, so lets hope all goes well there. I'm just excited to hunt ducks on an opener before 9. Good luck to everyone. I will be headed somewhere in washington county but I haven't really narrowed it any further than that yet. Might have to take a little drive tomorrow evening before I decide.

Not the best duck opener but we did shoot a few woody's and 1 ringbill. Pretty slim on the number of birds around. Sure hope it gets better.

We hunted on Lake of the Woods. 2 ducks, 2 geese on Saturday. Part of the problem was that the extractor on my 11-87 popped out, rendering it useless. The two of us has to share one gun, alternating shots. Normally, we have a spare gun in the boat, but not the time you actually need it.

Sunday we shot 6 ducks(hen and drake mallard, 2 redheads, a greenwing, and a bluebill) and 6 geese. After we limited on geese we had 4-5 more flocks land in the decoys.

We use to have a 10 acre place between Wheelers point and Baudett(sp?). We hunted LOTW numerous times on opener. Haven't been up there since we sold the place.

Where are these photo's Guy's?????? C'mon Man!!!

Took Gunners out for his first duck hunt, did better than I expected (for three weeks of heavy training) stills needs a lot of training on marking couldn't ask for a better results though did a 60yard retrieve through decoys and lilly pads awesome.

Thanks Bleu and onpoint good looking geese too.

I wish I had more time training gunner, his brain checked out after his third retrieve he sat with my wife the rest of the morning way too much adrenaline rush, I believe he wasn't use to the three shotguns going off at the same time in close proximity and people swearing at themselves for missing the shot.
