Watched National Dog show...new breed to me

While I was puttering around with the turkey, the National Dog Show was televised...in Philadelphia, I think. All AKC of course, but I like dogs, so....

For the first time, I saw a Wirehaired Visla. Neat looking dog, to my untutored eyes. A wikipedia search says it is separate from the Visla, and a relatively recent breed, with small blood stock, and subject to a bunch of potential health issues, but clean looking dog, with a nice profile and body shape.

Of course, I like GWPs, to probably natural I was attracted to the WHV.

Anyone have any exposure/experience with them?

Thanks.

Don't kid yourself, Para; both my GWPs were of AKC stock and both were magnificent pheasant, and to a lesser degree, duck dogs. Don't know of the dogs that were at the National show, but I'd bet there's a fair amount of hunt in all of those sporting breeds.

Thanks Zeb; that's mostly breed boilerplate, kinda what I found on a Google search. I just wondered if any one had hunted with, or ever seen, a WHV work.

Hope they get the genetic health issues worked out.

'Preciate it.

Now...my inquiry: Anybody know anything of the Wirehaired Visla? :)

Two or more in our local NAVHDA Club---Midwest Tri-State. I have seen a tremendous variation in the coats. I thought one was a Spimone. The other hsa a few wiry hairs on the back. Did not look any different than a regular Vizla to me. Have not hunted with one.

They're pretty new in NAVHDA as well. I've heard good things, but never trained or hunted with any.
