Wabbit Season

A couple weeks ago my GSP caught, killed and retrieved a rabbit. Now all she seems to want to do is hunt them until a bird gets knocked down and I let her retrieve it (throw it in the grass and let her get it) then she is back to normal. Are there any idea out there to get her to stop hunting rabbits?
 
An old trick my grandfather used to use when his dogs would kill chickens was to tie it to their collar until it rotted off. They never messed with chickens again and it didn't affect them with not hunting pheasants or quail. I imagine it would work with rabbits too. Good luck with that.
 
had this issue with my first lab. Made the mistake of shooting a rabbit over her in the field before I shot a bird over her. It was January, couldn't find the birds, I like rabbit. Anyway, she just wanted to hunt rabbits for a while after that. I started bringing a bird wing with us and a few minutes before we arrived I'd open the bag and tease her with it in the car or at the parking spot. She seemed to zero in on what we were supposed to be doing. Sometimes I'd carry it with me in case she seemed lost out there. It worked for me, although she still hunts rabbits and every mouse she can find while we are out there. I guess she's just a meat dog.
 
How old is this dog? Young dogs with limited experience will switch game but experienced dogs tend to stay focused. If she's an older you could consider trash breaking her with an e-collar.
 
She's three years old. I think I will try the pheasant/quail wing idea and go from there. Thanks for the idea guys.
 
Have you shot a lot of birds over her?

The wing trick may work, but you'd have to do it a lot and always have a wing available. Trash-breaking, done correctly, only takes one time.
