Upland Pant

Try Scheels.

I wear the Scheels branded pants and couldn't be happier. I'm sure they make a few youth sizes.

How old is he and what is his physical build/body type? Is he tall and thin, short and stout, average? The reason I ask is that I think I have a pair of Carhartt brown duck hunting bibs that my son used SPARINGLY when he started hunting at age 14. I will have to look and get back to you tomorrow with the size IF I can find them.

I highly recommend goretex pants of some sort. Even if you have to really stretch your budget, you want him to be dry and warm. Nothing ruins a hunt like being wet and cold. I use pants I got from LL Bean many years ago. I wish I would have had them 50 years ago.

I generally just wear jeans with a pair of light weight Cabelas chaps that used to be water resistant.

But since we have not seen water in KS for a couple years that has not been much of a problem ;)

Ditto for the chaps

X 2 for the chaps. We cut down my old chaps that had frayed at the bottom. We'll also pick up a some jeans at goodwill for $ 5 bucks. That way he won't trash the more expensive jeans he wears to school. You could buy new chaps and have the excess material tucked up and then sewn. When he gets bigger just cut the stitching out.

If its any help. I like the dbl tin chaps because they have a side zipper so you dont have to put your boots on after your chaps. I have a 30" inseam and the Husky chaps fit perfect. Good Luck.

I some how manage to go through a pair of Filsons a year. Get's expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion. I'll never go back to just wearing blue jeans.

Filsons are water proof as long and you keep up with oiling throughout the season. They make it possible to walk through the nastiest of stuff (i.e. prickers) and they keep the front of your legs warm and dry when plowing through cover w/snow.

Love em' and highly recommend them:thumbsup:
