Type?

So theres a type of bird, well thats what a guy told me hunting. Even tought my lab hunts great and points and flushes, he says that lab is a duck dog what is with people.

My dog is brown and white, runs really fast, marks well, flushes hard and is just as happy hunting quail, chukar, grouse, dove, pigeon, turkey, or rabbit as he is hunting pheasant. What "type" of dog does that guy think mine is?

Pointer owners think thats the only upland dog, flushers hunters love that their dog can do it all.

It's that simple....it's YOUR dog and if it works and hunts how you want, then it's a good dog! I have 2 Goldens and a Red Lab....I love all 3 and they are great dogs and do everything I could ever want of them, plus they are great house dogs and loving.

A lab is a very versatile dog as are many retrievers/flushing breeds. So, yes he is correct. A lab is a duck dog. Among a lot of other things as well. He tells only half truths! Lol
