Trophy Elk Tag

Beautiful animals. Kind of fullfills one of those bucket list items I bet.

Yes indeed!!!! Scratched it off the list!!!!! Thanks everyone for the great comments!!! Found a muzzleloader bullet in the right ham just under the hide!! From the looks of it was several years ago because there was no sign of trauma at all!!! Looks to be a power belt bullet as it was copper coated!

Very cool boys!! Way to go!

One more pic then I will quit!!!! LOL!!! Bird season is near!!

345-350 gross. This SWA that I hunted is nothing like hunting Big Elk in other trophy units in Colo. This place is where Big Bulls come to regenerate and it is chalked full of Elk. But you will be lucky to see a Cow elk when hunting here during the first 3 rifle seasons and muzzy and during archery. Everyday when I was there new Elk were coming in! Big bulls coming to rest up and be with a few buddies! So, it is probably not like any place else that I know of in terms of hunting late Bulls!!! Got up as high as we could and glassed Bulls coming up from Food and Water in the Morning's and in the evenings, we would find fresh sign along the gas roads where there was green grass and went above and waited till 15 minutes before shooting light was over and work the road back and catch them just out of the dark timber catching some good grass!! From the timber to the road was about 80 feet, small window!!!

:coolpics: thanks for posting:thumbsup: All I see in them is bigfoot standing by a big elk. Atleast bigfoot wears orange so he's not mistaken for a wild beast:)
