Transporting dogs during warmer seasons

I am wanting to get a dog box for my truck, but I would like to know it anyone uses them in the warmer months or would I just cook the dog. I have seen some with sides that slide out, would they work?

I have an insulated aluminum box that stays pretty cool in the warmer months. In september when the hunting starts afternoon temps can easily still be around 100 but much cooler inside the box.
