Tough One

How many days do you get out to begin with? Can't you do both?

I get out 4 or 5 times a mth, we just had our second child. The wife said something about just hunting a preserve lol, I was like noooooooooooo.

I'm in the same boat:). Things change when the wee ones drop onto planet earth. Add in work/business and things get tight. At times I look back on my single/no children days and think how lucky I was to do what I did. Hunt, hunt, hunt.

Anyway, if you're able to get out 4-5 times a month, just brake the months down. First month hunt waterfowl with a 1 upland hunt, second month hunt upland with a 1 waterfowl hunt. Or the other way around:confused: I'm not sure when your migration starts where you're from.

If you get out 4-5 times a month with kids your one of the lucky ones! Wait until they start playing sports. Your 4-5 times a month could turn into 4-5 times a season.

Mine are getting older and more self dependant. So my hunting and fishing days are on the increase again!

But, I wouldn't have traded going hunting or fishing for doing something with the family for all the birds in the world. It only lasts a short while so enjoy it while you can. Even if it means a lot less hunting.

Concentrate on what you like the best. For me it's always been waterfowling. Ever since I was a kid so that's what I do 90 percent of the season. This year however my plans are to quail hunt a little more than I have in the past.

So I needing to decide if I'm going to upland hunt or waterfowl hunt this year. What to do what to do.

Easy. You hunt waterfowl in the AM and pheasants in the PM. Or you hunt waterfowl early morning and late afternoon and pheasant during the mid day. Of course this all depends on finding good places in the same area to do both. I wouldn't give up either, but if I had to it would be waterfowl.
