No great drama, just a hen on a line and a dog on a quest.
Some pictures as she tracked and found the hen, then slowed and pointed (for a brief time) to the sounds of "WHOA, whoa, whoa, whoa...good girl, whoa whoa...etc."
I kept her on the line to keep her from jumping the bird as I reinforced her stand. We'd work for a bit, then she'd be taken in the house and the bird relocated.
On point, when the bird moved she wanted to leap, but I held her back and let her readjust to the new position. More "whoa" instructions from me, but I could see her straining. When the bird popped up, she'd leap up, but was restrained and "whoa" reinforced.
The bird has gone through three or four iterations of this exercise the last two days and is holding up.
Tink is working out the behaviors and protocols. She just turned 18 months and has some impulsive behaviors, but is coming around to the partnership with me. I've had her 6 months.
She's brand new to this part and is coming nicely along to air scent and (limited) tracking. I am looking forward to season. We've gone from house training to yard training and soon, to field training.
We got time.
