Time to measure tails.

Shot one 23 1/4, with a heck of a set of spurs. He's actually at the taxidermist right now!

The one on the left measured 24 1/2 in. He was an old hook spurred wild rooster.

So far this year we have had 3 that were around 23 3/4" and one that came in at 24 3/8" had alot around 23" but these were all from sd so it doesn't suprise me

not home right now but ill have to measure um when i get home, dad shot this old guy on my great great grandpas homestead in narka ks when i was like 6 or 7, he was hunkered down beside the old house that was its last leg.... :D:D

my pic didnt upload right , too big i guess.. ill measure and a diff pic when i get home

Anything over 20 inches gets added to my "Pheasant vase" Added a few this year with one just under 23 and one just over 24.

I started with anything over 19, but the vase got too full. When it's full again, I'll throw out the 20's.

The longest in my collection is 25 1/4

got one last week that is my longerst ever at 25 1/8". I tracked it from a splash down in the snow and track it to a hole on the edge of a ditch. I held point for quite a while on him but I broke and flushed him. :D

Most decent ones we take are in the 22-23' range at most. Have one other from 3 yrs ago that is just shy of 25 and that bird was a really big sucker. It's nice to add the winner to the collection.

A friend has one in his garage thats over 27" and he saved the leg which had some honking double spurs. He thinks its from the 80s perhaps early 90s.

So....how do you measure? Pull from bird and measure tip to tip? Or measure from butt to tip while on the bird? Or from tip to where the fibers actually start?

here it's the tail must be attached to the bird- have a freind who kept one in his freezer- measured 27"- he waited to enter it in the best contest- giving up a sure win because it was only a Remington 870- then when he took it in- tail feathers pulled right off- they said it didn't qualify

I saw the bird- we measured the very longest feather from where it attached to the very tip

not sure what all the hype is about getting a trophy- seems rather crazy-
trophy to me means- the almost impossibly slam to and hold till flush and kill with one shot
