Thistles

Is is just me or are the thistles really bad in the fields this year? I've been having a real problem with them going through my pant legs if I don't wear my chaps. The Wrangler jeans with the facing on them don't come close to stopping the prickles from coming through. My Brittanys wear vests but I see in the areas the vests don't cover they appear to have a lot of prickles imbedded under their skin. I'm assuming these prickles will work their way out but the dogs are a little raw right now. Anyone have any insight on this?

Hunted in northern MN and the thorns were terrible. I put a vest on my EP also. But like you say it doesn't cover everything. I need ear covers for the pup.
I have no idea what would be a good fix. Try to avoid. Yea right.

I agree, took the kids out for a youth hunt, between the greenbrier, thistles, and blackberries it was tough. If you were heavy enough armor to shed them, you roast. Probably the affect of a really wet spring here, everything got super duty growth, and wet weather probably limited herbicides. I particularily enjoy the purple bruise like stained punctures from the blackberry.
