when the cover looks like this...

I could see the fox tracks lead to the feathers. You can see where the fox made the tackle.

I went to throw some food out in the place I last saw some quail. I know the ice can do a number on the little birds. I saw plenty of tracks for deer, fox and pheasant. I did see a fox run off in the distance. This area should get better in the future with additional trees and cover planted.

That's about as flat as it gets:eek: Looks like your in need of some warm-seasons Bauer.;);)

Are you guys experiencing this extreme cold weather too in PA?

Nick

That poor guy never had a chance out in the open like that! It really is all about habitat in the winter.

Nick,

It's been cold, maybe low 20's at night, but not as cold as where you're at I think. At camp it's been in the low teens, which is in the northern part of the state.

Did you guys see the photo sequence of the fox catching a rooster in the last PF mag? Damn fine little hunters. I know it sounds weird but I saw a fox in my pasture a week ago (first I've seen in a few years) and I hope they take up residence in the brush pile, I miss the old fox who raided my plum tree every morning.

Yep, I took that magazine to deer camp with me,they were some great photo's.

Hey, I respect the fox...he's part of the big plan.

It has been getting down in the teens here at night. Tonight it will be 12. There is a field of switchgrass several hundred yards away from this spot. We may have better cover in the field next year. This year it was 50 acres of beans. The plan is to put half in habitat in the future.
