They're still out there

Got out today, for only the third time this year. Just me and Spencer, my 8-year old yellow lab. Light wind, high about 52, but for some reason, birds were getting up just about perfect. I saw about 150 birds total in smaller bunches all day long. I finished up before noon, so I spent the afternoon looking for quail. Found a couple coveys, and got 1 out of each. All in all, best day in a long while! Here's a few pics (before the last quail came to rest).

I also found a new favorite field. An unbelievable 8 sq. mile matrix of corn and milo stubble circles, cut through with weedy gullies, and just enough thick stuff around the edges. Lots of little hills too, which I always like. I discovered it after I had my limit, but I hope to head there tomorrow, weather permitting.

Sorry for the double post. Edited it to add a couple more pics, and for some reason it kept the first post.

Nice work and pics of the birds. I'm assuming that you are hunting south of I-70/Hwy 36 tomorrow. Just a heads up since the quail season closed on Jan. 2 north of there. Say safe.

Great pictures of a great hunt!
I was out yesterday pheasant hunting along the Colorado/Nebraska border....there are still loads of birds out there.
Managed to get a limit of pheasants in 3 hours on a walk-in area....one of my best Colorado hunts in years.
Saw 50 -60 birds yesterday.
I'll be heading back out after the snow.

Yep - south of 70/36.

Didn't do so good today - still saw quite a few, but overnight my gun seemed to develop a slight bend in the barrel - gonna have to get that fixed! I bailed just before noon, to try to beat the worst of the weather home. Sure wish I could stay out a couple more days. Nothing better than hunting in a few inches of fresh snow.

Hey Kid - Good On You & glad u left me a couple!!!

Gawd, it's killin me not to be out there trompin in that fresh snow tomorrow a.m.!!! Instead, here I sit drinkin Miralax, listenin to Muddy Water Sing the Blues & preppin up for a scuba-scope tomorrow...
