The Fat Lady is about to sing

In about 30 hours the fat lady will start singing. In about 60 days the fat lady will have sung. It should be an interesting 60 days here on the South Dakota thread of Ultimate Pheasant Hunting web site. There will be 1000 bird sightings, and hunters that did not fire a shot. There will be many limits taken, and many will come up short. Released birds that are thought to be wild, and wild birds will be considered released. There will be lots of false information spread about how good the hunting is, and how bad the hunting is. There will be tens of 1000's of gallons of beer drank, and 1000's of gallons of whiskey. The strippers are in or on their way to Dallas and the Congo club, complaining about how cheap the hunters are.

In 60 days we should have a good idea of what the future of South Dakota pheasant hunting looks like. Is it headed in the direction of Iowa and Nebraska, or will the pay to play/habitat farms produce enough pheasants to keep the hunters coming from all around the world? We shall see.

Good luck to all the hunters headed to Wonderful South Dakota! Have fun and watch out for the blockers!!!

Yes good luck to all--be careful. Hope the fat lady sings a nice tune--time will tell.:D

Lots of variables on all aspects, but you pretty much covered the most important items.

Im trying to plan to get there next week, but nothing is concrete yet. Doesnt matter what the report is. Dont drink beer, dont frequent the clubs, but the whiskey and the walleyes may be in trouble.. Its all good. I for sure will be there 1st week in Nov.

Ive refrained from posting, mostly because it would be considered negative, and that would not be my intention. My postings in the past, have been my actual on the ground experiences behind two seasoned dogs, and nothing more or less.. As a one man hunter, I cannot cover as much ground as the groups, nor do I want to.

Good luck to all that venture to South Dakota..

I would still suspect that good reports will be slim, but not because it didnt happen, but more because most will not want to say where they were, or at least very generic in terms of location..

Yes this year will determine all that . Done deal . Well don't need to hear from you any more then thanks see ya later . Save Nebraska .

Jetifantasy, I wish you the best of luck hunting at the uguide Miller camp the 2nd to last week of November. There will have been at least 4 groups that hunted before you so it will be a good test of my theory that after 4 or 5 weeks of hunting the "wild" pay to play places are going to have very few roosters left.

Please let us know how that hunt goes, and be safe out there.

I don't think it's so important to i.d. the released and wild roosters, but a guy wouldn't want to get NOPLCLKNEB's fat lady singer and strippers confused.

Obviously you have never been to a strip club in Nebraska:), the strippers have dual roles as fat-lady singers. I could share a horrible story about a strip club in Alma about '85 or so:eek:

I was encouraged that the 5 th hunter we picked up is a repeat uguide hunter and this year decided to add a second week by joining us that speaks a lot . Sorry if I tweaked you , your response makes me feel like I hurt your feelings. If you want more info on me glad to oblige . You just seem to want to be the storm ... I want to be the sun.

Sadly, carptom is spot on. The main reason the strippers are so bad in out state Nebraska is there are no pheasants, which means the strippers are stripping for farmers. Not good!:)

Jetifantasy, I wouldn't be too concerned about my feelings, I truly am interested if my theory is correct that oasis's of great pheasant habitat that will obviously produce pheasants, but not enough wild pheasants to commercially hunt them week after week........if the surrounding farm ground (neighbors) is intensely farmed for profit only. (moonscape looking land)

In Nebraska, oasis's of great pheasant habitat have pheasants but never enough to commercially hunt week in and week out. South Dakota has way more oasis's of great pheasant habitat than Nebraska, my theory says it won't be enough, I may be wrong?

I really would like to here how your hunt goes, you are spending your hard earned money to hunt a two different pay to play operations (for lack of a better phrase) late in the season. My theory says you will see hundreds of pheasants.....hens. Good luck!

I'm chopping at the to get my two black girlfriend and myself out after some ringnecks. I'll be headed out Monday after work for a 5 day hunt to hunt the same public land that I have been hitting for the last couple of years. Last year I put over 40 birds in the freezer and it would have been more if I could shoot straight. It will be interesting to see how the bird number are for myself. I'm sure that there will be a few more then what I could find in Colorado. Good luck to everyone and remember...If you can shoot good, shoot alot!

i guess 10 birds in the freezer this yr for mtnlab due to the SD road side survey & other hunter reports your public land did not fair any better then anybody elses id guess??? please post how many birds go in the freezer this yr id love to know???

just to guys trying to brag about how well they did last yr seriously over 40 birds in the freezer??? "public or private land??? if private how much did you pay???" "if public land you are the man hands down a guru!!!" & basing there last yrs hunts on this seasons success...??? come on???

hope you do well out in SD TBEAR i feel the same way you do if i can find point & hold 100% wild pheasants in MN i should be just fine in ND??? i mean SD???

i still cant bring my-self to hunt SD to many people to mainstream for me... ND gets about 90,000 less hunters & thats fine with me... i will still find birds there... less people is always bette for me...???
