Well, it's over. I did end up going by myself and a lot of you were right. My dog and I had a GREAT time! Jumped 15 roosters the first day by ourselves! I only got one, but not because of lack of opportunities, but more because I haven't practiced shooting, lol. I met a couple of amazing people who treated me, (a total stranger until now) like a true friend...and I totally appreciate it. I made a couple of hopefully lifelong friendships to boot! I had a great time and thank you all again. I WILL be back soon,

Did you plan to meet a group of people or did you just meet some total strangers? How did you pick where you were going to hunt? I'm heading up in late Dec so I'm trying to pick an area to head for.

I just studied the maps and google maps...a lot! As far as the people, I met a little of both. I would suggest trying to meet someone on here, as there is a wealth of info, and a lot of really good people on this forum! Just do your research and good luck. Trust me, the time you spend researching will be well worth it in the end. It did for me.

Get on the KDWP website and check out the upland bird forecast. Then download the WIHA (walk in hunting area) maps on the same website. Plan your hunt around that. Look for the most walk in hunting in the region with the best upland report. Pretty easy really. KDWP does a real nice job with their website.
