Got some good news from the doctor today after a little scare earlier in the week. I got home from work, mowed the lawn and sat on the deck and drank a 6 pack while my two kids played in the yard. It was perfect weather outside this evening and the sunset was awesome! I watched some ducks fly into the pond across the road and my 6 year old daughter who just this year I've started taking dove hunting asked if I could take her duck hunting. I know it was the week I'd had, the sunset and the 6 pack, but I'm telling you I got a little emotional. The reason is because I don't think we realize how lucky we are. I know I'm thankfull for living is this great state and being able to walk out my front door and in a matter of minutes be able to get my two bird dogs into birds. I'm thankfull for having good deer land not 30 minutes from my house and good bass ponds about the same distance. I'm thankfull for having two kids that are interested in hunting and a wife that'll let me hunt as often as I need to. I'm thankfull for having good hunting buddies that love to hunt as much as I do. I know we don't have as many pheasants to hunt this year, but I'm thankfull for the land that I have to hunt them on. I still know at the end of the day, my hunting buddies and I will drink a cold one on the tailgate after the guns are put away and we'll still be able to watch the sunset on this great state that's been so good to us over the years.
