SW Minnesota trail cam pics 06-19-2017

These are fantastic pictures. I love seeing live vs. Dead animal
pictures. I love hunting but it is nice seeing the birds
flourishing. Probably getting old and soft.

In the Racoon pic, is that sting weed in the background? it looks familar and not in a good way!Great pic's once again!

Yes it is and it itched when I broke it off the first time!

I used to check my Wood duck boxes while wearing shorts because I would get wet up to my waist or better and waders were just too hot to wear. Then I ran into Sting weed. My legs were on fire and waders were once again in the fold!
Is that a hen Hooded Merganser with the Mallards?:coolpics:

I think it's a Hooded Merganser hen.:) Common Merganser hen's have lighter/grey colored bodies. The Merganser hen in the photo may have her "hood" feathers laying (flat) against her head and neck, plus the angle of her head may be hiding it a bit too.

Also (for future reference) common Merganser hen's have "hoods" too, like Hooded Merganser hens.

I hope you were able to make heads/tails of all that. lol

Looks too small for a common to me.I have shot several Hoodies both hens and drakes and a few Commons and Red breasted.
