State owned lands

This might be a stupid question, but I can't find the answer anywhere on the Internet. Are all state owned lands public, or no? I found a map online that shows all the state owned land in Colorado and it would seem that if it's owned by the BLM then it is okay to hunt. Is all state owned land also BLM land? If so, then is all state owned land open to hunting?
 
Go to WalMart and get yourself a state atlas. In the front of the atlas is a list of state owned lands and what you can hunt on those lands. Great thing to keep with you.

BLM land is Federal land. In Kansas, not all State owned land is open to hunting. KDOT owns land that is not. Colleges own land that is not. I'm sure there are other examples as well.

Okay, that clears a lot up. So BLM is federal land. I did not know that, i guess i should have assumed that though. And i see. So it really just depends then.
 
Blm Is under the dept of the interior. They are feds. THe questions you ask are going to change state to state.

Very, very good resource for hunting land. Not always stand up hunting there because everyone else knows this too. Good spots though IF you hunt harder than everyone else. If you know what I mean.

In Colorado not all state owned land is open for hunting.
In particular there are a lot of State School Trust lands that are shown on maps as state lands....many but not all of them are closed to access.
BLM land in Colorado is federal and most all of it is open for access to hunting.
