Spring break 2….

Drove to Pipestone Minnesota this morning for Easter with the wife’s family. Holy cow were the pheasants out feeding! If it weren’t for the sunrise, I would’ve done a short video!
I enjoy the drive between Marshall and Pipestone…quite scenic. I’ve hunted a bit around Ruthton…had some decent, short outings there…interesting how different things get when I head east on 19 out of Marshall if I have to head to the cities…lots of black dirt! Just drove that route about 2 weeks ago…pretty desolate for a long stretch, though areas around the MN river are scenic…rich, expensive soil…void of much wildlife. Thank God for hilly country and/or inferior farmland! 😄

Something was in the air, I counted 18 pheasant yesterday in 30 miles in Oklahoma on a road I travel year around. Usually see one a week… I was blown away with how many are really out there. Not good pheasant country

I graduated Pipestone in 76. Grew up in Hatfield and hunted there, Edgerton, Woodstock, Holland. There was an insane number of Hungarian Partridge in the 70s and 80s. Rarely see them anymore, but now that I moved to Dakota I’ve been at least seeing a few coveys by Hardwick.
