Came out to the pheasant camp 3/19, mainly due to the weather…80’s and sunny yesterday, today, and forecasted for tomorrow…no wind…gorgeous! Spectacular time of year to visit and sightsee and visit…about 3-4 weeks earlier than most years. Just came home from a drive…birds everywhere, pheasants and waterfowl…snows are around. Spent 30 minutes in the little town visiting with farmer friend who was over last nite with his wife and the next two generations for supper. Tonite he was working on one of his 3 classic mustangs…he’s got 2 ‘68 ford galaxies as well…very cool! Spent 10 minutes with the dogs in the big yard here…veritable cacophony of a rooster concert going on! Every direction! A real treat coming out this time of year…no real agenda, but the days go by in a laid back manner, and before you know it a world class sunset is staring you in the face. Several classic ‘60’s vintage pickups being given parade-style tours around this little town, fun to see. Lots going on in the world right now, but you’d never know it…sipping some bourbon and getting supper going…no hurry, nothing fancy…happy to be here, fun tooling around and remembering many fun memories from last season…for whatever reason, the roosters look extra large, and are amazingly conspicuous from long distances….lots of bald eagles, one flock of cranes as well spotted and heard today…been doing these spring trips for 30+ years…wouldn’t miss it!
Just got a call, guests coming…think I’ve got enough grub…
