Speaking of low bird numbers...

we went to hoxie and we did really good 5 of us shot 26 pheasant and 6 quail

Wow Jenks, that is GREAT! Did you guys get that many just in the two day weekend? Also, were you hunting WIHA, or private land? I have no clue where Hoxie is, but I'm just trying to see how much success everyone is having on WIHA this year. Cangrats on the birds though, seriously! Got any pictres?

2 years ago, I watched a hawk snatch a quail OUT OF THE AIR on a covey rise! It happened SO fast it was unbelievable! We then walked up and found where the hawk had eaten the quail on the ground in the next plumb thicket.

No doubt in my mind that the hawks are hard on the quail.....too bad I'm too chicken to do anything about it though! There's a saying here in the upper peninsula of Michigan about how to handle the wolves....shoot, shovel and shut up.

we didnt do any walk-in hunting we hunted all private land. All the birds were shot in a day and a half because we had to go back to kstate for school on monday.
