was searching for a local chapter and see that there are two. anyone here belong to either? is one better than the other? why two chapters so close together? you can pm me your answer if your uncomfortable answering publicly.

I have belonged to both and tested with both. Either is great, might get a little more help at Midwest Tri-State, Sioux Falls. The SD chapter in Freeman was actually the first SD club and we did training in a number of locations to include Brookings, Sioux Falls and Freeman. It makes no difference where you go judge wise. I will be testing in Sioux Falls as the training and grounds are about ten minutes from my house.

I haven't tested with the Sioux Falls chapter, but can give the SD chapter at Freeman two thumbs up. Good bunch of people, very hospitable and generous with their expertise, and active in training from April through August.

Glad to see interest in this wonderful organization. Was involved with them in my home state when my now 7 year old boys were pups. My goal for my dogs was for hunting purposes. They can help you, I repeat, help you, mold your dog into a dynamic hunting machine. First and foremost, your dog has to possess some degree of natural ability when it comes to prey. They will assist you in determining that. Many of these people are involved in developing a strong breeding program. Most of your top breeders in the hunting world are involved with NAVHDA, and, other organizations that utilize a testing format to acquire titles that add credibility to their program. You benfit from their experience. I unfortunately fell on hard times and had to make difficult sacrifices, my club trained 80 miles away.
Take a look at NAVHDA website under testing, you'll find many of the top kennels represented here by the dog's name. As an example, my boys were sired by Chance vom Riverwoods. Riverwoods is the "foundation" kennel, Chance is a result of their selected breedings to achieve a desired result.
Wish you and your dog all the best as you learn and grow together in NAVHDA.

Note to all interested; they do not train your dog for you...they work with you AND your dog to help you train your dog.
