My two favorite pairs of hunting socks have finally worn holes in the heels. Any body have any favorite pairs of socks out there? These were ducks unlimited wool socks.

Nothing is better in this world than putting on a new pair of socks for the first time and nothing hurts like throwing away you favorite old pair. It's a cruel cycle.

All I have been using the past several years a Merino wool socks. I've been buying them at Runnings. They are a Browning brand and quite reasonably priced at about $7 a pair. And I always wear a pair of moisture wicking liner socks under them.

2nd on the sock liner. I use them no matter what the weather. I also use them under my gloves in colder weather. Makes a world of difference. I order Darn Tough socks off Amazon for pheasant hunting and downhill skiing. Made in Vermont and a little pricey, but so are no tox shells. If my feet aren't happy my shooting falls apart, along with everything else.

I like my Filsons.

Moisture wicking (not all cotton) athletic socks. Boots are lightly insulated and I do not like wool for upland bird walking unless temps are below freezing. Then any thin pair of wool socks (carhart brand is fine) will do.

Wool socks designed for hikers and workers seem to have the right level of elastic and construction to hold up (on the leg) and retain shape.

For > 35* temps;
SmartWool & Point6 have lifetime warranties... I like Stoic too

If it gets cold;
My OTC Filson that I normally wear for waterfowl get used.
