The Sharptail season starts this Saturday so we will officially kick off the hunting season. Something to do until the pheasant season begins. Good opportunity to get some dog work in and get them ready for the main season. Also give me a chance to break in that new BSA SxS 16 ga. I'll have to wait until during next week as my neice is getting married on Saturday and a grandson has a birthday party on Sunday. Then the following weekend I'll be in Nebraska for a NSTRA field trial. Darn good thing I'm retired and can hunt during the week! :)

Lovin it every day! Keep those contributions coming. :)

However, I think I paid in my fair share during my 40+ years in the workforce. Decided to start collecting at age 62 to make sure I at least got some of my money back before the government bankrupts SS. :(

I'm more than happy to contribute cause you earned it....my dad thanks me everyday when he comes back from fishing or hunting- "thanks for paying me to do what I Love and....KEEP WORKING!!!"

Dakotazeb, I'm not sure where you hunt, but I have not seen any grouse since late spring/early summer out west (Philip to Ft Pierre). The pheasants fared well but the grouse numbers have been down for a while. I'm not sure whether to venture out Sat. or not. The new Citori Gran Lightning 16 does need some "field" break-in, though.

Was all wound up t go but will be in MPLS doing family crap:(:(

LOL,Those famous words spoken by many a hunter, family crap.
 good luck to you on your hunt Zeb and at the trial. Wish I would have had better weather and more time to spend at G fair with ya. hope you didn't get too wet. Do you have Ellie ready?.

Do you have Ellie ready?.

I sure have her in good shape and ready to run. I've been roading her 2-3 times a week with my bicycle and we do a minimum of 7 miles and as much as 9.5 miles. Plus I try to get her out in the field for at least an hour a couple times a week. I'm also seeing some nice improvement with her bird finding (not that it was bad). She will be 2 in November so I think a lot of it is maturity. But she still has to learn the trial game. This is the only trial I'm going to this fall, but I plan to hit the trial circuit hard in the spring.

dz, I wish you the best of luck, knock them dead. You have earned the right to hunt till you drop. GO FOR IT MY FRIEND. Hope you enjoy it, I still pay into ss, and know I, will never get a penny from it. That's why ive been buying gold, for 20 years..... 1278, per oz. yep that works.:D

Finally got out to see if I could find some Sharpies. I must have seen at least a dozen birds but they just don't hold well for the dogs to point. The two that did are in the bag, bought down by some "Purple Rain" from my new 16 ga. BSA SxS.

I should of had my limit as a couple that flushed wild actually came back over me but they were up and with the wind which was blowing about 20-25 mph and I whiffed.
