Been lurking here quite a while, first post and for good reason!
Got on the same page with the wife and we are gonna try and plan a quick western pheasant hunt this fall! Our lab will be almost 6 and next year we will hopefully have another kid on the way we figured we'ed better take the opportunity. And its not every day that I will get to go on a hunting trip with my wife!
So we are thinking a semi guided hunt with lodging and a wild bird population. Productivity is going to be key. I don't mind a tough hunt and can handle minimal action, but imagine that she won't feel the same way as myself. I don't mind hunting public land as long as its not a zoo and there are birds present. We don't need to be pampered in a five star lodge, just some where to sleep and eat.
I don't know much about how the program works out there. I am thinking Montana or South Dakota but am open to suggestions. I have a mule deer hunt in montana from the 26th of october until november 1st. so it has to be early in the season.
What kind of pricing should I expect? Some of the sites if browsed seemed a little steep at 1300 to 1500 for a three day hunt? Is this right?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!
Andy
