Seeing some pheasants

Took the dogs out for a run this morning. It was pretty hot even before 10am.

The dogs pointed 2 hens and a rooster, and had another 2 hens flush wild.
This was in an area that I do not find many pheasants historically.

Looks like there are plenty out there for a reasonable hatch, at least in this spot.

Oh, and we found plenty of tic's as well :(

I was just going to say the same thing. I saw two hens and a rooster in an area that used to have birds maybe 15 years ago, but has been pretty crapola ever since. I hope they make a lot of babies.

And I found three ticks on me this weekend. Hopefully that was all of them...

I did not find any pheasant this weekend but I did however see a couple dozen pc while out and about for turkeys. I also had a spot where I heard several quail whistling. Let's keep our fingers crossed that things turn around a great deal this year for the birds. I did pull a tick as well yesterday but only one for a whole day of turkey hunting.

I flushed a quail out of some good nesting habitat while I was in your neck of the woods hunting mushrooms...it was on public land. It was a hen. I wished her good luck once I got my composure back. Wasn't expecting to hear that sound while it was 80 degrees in the off-season:eek:
