Hunting is getting better. I jumped 8 birds this morning

Jumped several yesterday.

Triple play this morning. I still have a chance at a full limit today after the Vikes game.

Looks like fun Chuck, That is one of things I miss about MN. I had some great grouse hunts there..........Bob

Congrats thats some nice shooting. Good luck for the rest of the season. I don't get to grouse hunt much anymore they have gotten so hard to find in south central Indiana because of the lack of habitat.

I'm a big guy but in that bottom pic I'm waring a vest from a very close life long friend who passed away suddenly. He was a big man(ya bigger then me). I ware it kind of as a tribute to him on several hunts a year. That's why it's a bit on the large size. I have some of his ashes in a container on top my gun cabinet. I'm thinking of taking him to South Dakota hunting with us. I know he would like that, kinda like he's not totally gone. I miss him:(

Ran out of time after the game, I might get some more hunting in tomorrow.

Congrats!

I'm itching to get out myself and in hopefully less than a week I'll be out for a mini vacation in the grouse woods.

The male Wiam in the pic was a free dog my son got. we have no idea how old he is but I would guess him to be between two and three years old. He is a grouse hunting machine. I'm very impressed with him. We have another young male Wiam and GSP we are starting. They got a taste of birds this weekend. Got to do a few retrieves each.

Here's a pic of the young male Wiam with a grouse

Sweet snag.
I never get this type of luck.

How do you guys sleep at night talking about hunting birds while the rest of us are patiently waiting for the commie chicken season to open. It's just about being civil.

Oh you can hunt bar pigeons, crows, and doves.Hey any one tell you guy's why ducks fly up side down over IA?:D

I am planning a grouse hunt a week from Sat. leaves should be about cleared up by then. nice shootin OP.

Ruffed Grouse Saga...

Just thought I'd add my two-cents worth in here. I shot a Ruffed Grouse in the back yard yesterday with a bow. I hit it square too, but the dang thing flew. I have never seen a grouse fly after getting hit like that. Even still I looked for it where I thought it may have gone down at for over an hour but didn't find it. Tall grass isn't conducive to a good search for a bird that blends in so well!!

Also I thought I'd add in a picture of the two dogs that I'm working on training too! It struck me as somewhat coincidental that I'm not the only one on here training these two breeds! They're great dogs and we love working with them! The Weim is Gunnar and our GSP is Trigger. We'll be getting a third dog around Christmas too!! My fiance thinks we're crazy but it'll be fun!

You're killing me man! :10sign:

Next you're going to tell me that they were all over honest points, occurred in less than an hour and you didn't even bother loading the chamber until the dog went on point.

Congrats. A limit on ruffed is no small feat.
