If you have "rookies" starting this year, let's see their pictures and their "bio".

Blitz - 10 1/2 months old, ~70lbs.

Don't know that Indy really qualifies as a rookie as I got to hunt him some at the end of the season last year. He is 13 months old now.
He is about 40 lbs, and one of the fastest dogs I have ever had.

And is smart enough to love up on my wife.

Indy is gorgeous!

Blitz saw some playing time in the last game of the season. He was more concerned with not losing me than anything else. I think that wild birds will force him to step up his game, as I tell my wife "He ain't catchin' no wild pheasant" ;)

Nice pic's guys. I know the anticapation must be driving you crazy to get the newbies out in the field on wild bird. It is with me, even though my dog turns 5 this month, she is new to me as a rescue. So I have only had her on planted birds and through the Novice trials at the Colorado Gun Dog Club. Her leg has seemed to heal and she is sanke proofed (I hope) so a few more months of fine tuning and we'll see what we have. Good luck to all of you.

Wish I could figure the picture thing out. Tried doing it like I do for my fishing bords with my PICASA account but no luck.

My girl, a 6 month old GSP, a will have her first season this year if she works as good as I think she will I can't wait. Plus she is the prettiest GSP I have ever seen (I may be a little biased), Vet says so too (maybe just wanting my money).

Can't wait to see what a little pro traiining will do for her.

Thanks Co Weimar, I really like him.

Those wild birds are key to developing a pup. They soon learn that if they crowd them the birds will fly off.

Evergreen, thats one good looking little girl you have there.

xc_Burner. I have only hunted with a cocker one time and it was a heck of a good pheasant dog. Good luck.

My boy "Takoda of The Wind" ....ok, "Tako" is what he likes now!:D

Whelped:4/8/12 to my best gal "Kiwidimok of The Wind"

Here's Buddy, just turned 1yr old. 42lbs of fast and all kinds of smart.

And Buddy's "little brother" Little Boy or Lb for short. 50lbs of goofy but he's gonna be a good one.

Nice looking pups people!:D

Our rookie has made some big progress recently - I always expect a little regression after a step up, but things are starting to click for him now.

Clubs in the Weimaraner Club of America host "Weimaraner Ratings Tests" which are similar to AKC hunt tests, but open to Weims only. Anyhow, my wife ran Blitz "all go, no whoa" ;-) in Novice Shooting Dog last weekend - similar to AKC's Junior Hunter (demonstrate enthusiasm to hunt, find the bird, point the bird, hold point for a minimum of 3 seconds and demonstrate that the dog is not gun shy). Blitz and my wife did great, beyond my expectations!

Intense Point!

Steady after the bird was flushed!

I ran the big blue guy in Shooting Dog Excellent (Refined hunting dog, steady to wing and shot, honor, honor through another dog's retrieve, retrieve unconditionally to hand) We did great - nice point, steady to wing and shot, honored through his bracemate's retrieve, and a retrieve to hand. After honoring through the retrieve, we had demonstrated everything to the judges, and were trying to run the 30 min clock down. With about one minute to go, Dakota pointed a bird, was steady to shot, didn't go until released, but he retrieved to arm's length and dropped the bird on the ground - not good enough for the judges. Oh well, we are almost there, being soooo close is the frustrating part.

LB decided to carry this around all morning and gaurd it with his life against the other dogs... like I said, 50lbs of goofy!:p
