Rio and PMC Shotgun Ammo

I'm always looking for some new 16 ga. ammo. I've used B&P in the field and in trails with good results. I was wondering what people's experience has been with Rio and PMC shotshells?

A guy on another forum I frequent is big into the clays games. Shoots 10's of thousands of shells a year. He just posted a picture of 40 flats of Rio's he just bought. Evidently he likes them.

Shooting Sportsman magazine had a factory tour article recently on RIO. I was very impressed. RIO makes everything in house. They roll their own hulls, drop their own shot, make their own powder, they even make their own primers down to punching and making the metal cups and the propellent. The loading is done on state of the art Italian automated machinery. They say they make and supply componants to other ammo manufacturers but were not allowed to name them.
After reading that I tried some and they seemed fine. They went bang and things broke in the air. Our club had them as the house ammo a while back and the only negative comments I heard were people wishing they could find reloading data for the hulls.

I've shot a couple boxes of rio's 1 1/8 loads at clays. A couple different clubs I shoot at keep them on hand. They work just the same as any other loads. Never used any hunting.

I haven't seen PMCs lately but I used a flat in the past of 12 gauge on wild chukars and was impressed with them (no problems). However, I tend to look at cost as much as anything...:D

I shoot RIO's in my Citori 16, 1 1/8 oz #6 @1300 fps. They work great. Their shotshells are good for clays or hunting.

Shot RIOs last year. All went bang no failures like I have had with PMC. Knocked down what I hit. Just wish Sportsmans had them in in #4s or 3in #5s for late season. If they carried lighter loads for Dove I would definately buy those too.

Over 50ish years, I have yet to find a factory shotshell that, other than the very rare FTF, failed to perform it's task if I did mine and it was selected to match that task at hand.
File shell choice along with gun weight, barrel length, choke and trigger color as conversation fodder and personal choice on the day at hand.
Much ado about nothing.

i bought a couple boxes of rios quail loads and i liked them only one complaint i noticed they were really dirtier than any shell i have ever shot? powder i guess i dont know?

I started this thread and I think I finally have my answer. Stick with the regular brands! Although I have shot nearly a case of 16 ga. B&P and have not complaints. In fact there are probably the cleanest burning shells I've ever shot. I can shoot a box or two and look down the barrels of my Citroi and the barrels are still clean.
