Relax in Dodge During Your Hunt

After a hard day in the field next season, maybe you will want to relax by spending a little time on the ice. Not me, BTW.

The first chance to get on the ice at the new arena came today.

I don't really know. They laid the first ice this week and Saturday was free skating for the public. Saw in the paper they are organizing youth hockey leagues. There has been some talk about a semi-pro team, but I don't know. Dodge did support a semi-pro basketball team for a few years, but I don't see how hockey can work in this part of the world.

I would like to get on the ice and take a few laps, but behind the wheel of the Zamboni which would be fast enough. My trip to Denver in January with the first 250 miles on black ice is enough ice for me.

Hopefully, there is no wind from the SE....looks like a nice place.

Sure beats batting a frozen cow patty across the frozen ice with a scoop shovel at a feedyard lagoon.:)

The casino and special events center are located far enough west that is will take a pretty good wind from the southeast to get the feedyard/packing plant aroma there.

Speaking of the southeast wind. We don't get it often in Dodge, but the weather bureau contributed a snow awhile back to "lake effect" snow, although no lake, but the southeast wind perfectly aligned the steam coming from the power plant at Ft Dodge and the two packing plants and dumped a load of snow on the city. Had to warn the kids, "don't eat the stinky snow".

I saw that snowfall area mapped out when I was in the area a while back...weather folk said it was an odd event.
Another thing that happened quite a few years ago when the new radar was installed at the weather bureau. There was a technical qlitch with the radar occurring about sundown every evening when this ghost would appear on the radar in the SE New Mexico area. The ghost turned out to be the bats exiting the caves at Carlsbad.

You either like hockey or you don't. I do and am glad to see it come to sw Kansas. My grandson plays AAA for the Colorado Roughriders, but they did not do so well in C. Springs this weekend. They are seeded 6 for the National Tourney so hopefully things will go better there. An Omaha team is #1.

My H.S. Buddy has a Archery shop and goes to these big Sports shows and when he was at the one in Indy , she was there looking for hunting trips. I have another college buddy whose wife is the owner and CEO of Prois women's hunting apparel , and they see her at those shows a lot as well. She grew up hunting in Texas!!!! Nothing like a woman that will clean your or her own birds or big game!!!!!!!:10sign::10sign::cheers:

I took my wife to a Michael Buble concert in Denver for her birthday last year and Miranda and Blake were in the audience sitting just a few seats away from us.....Miranda is even prettier up close and personal!
M.R. it looks like Miranda has hijacked your thread here!
She is definitely a babe!
