Poor dog got caught up in barb wire fence and tore the bottom of his ear about one inch. Bleeding all over the place and the wife says we need to go the vet. I reluctantly agree since its our first spot on the first day. Its also snowing and the birds are holding tight with one in the bag. I drive to Redfield and politely ask the veterinary my options and cost. He tells me at least $300 for two to three stiches. I asked if we could staple the ear. He looks at me and says "Dont tell me how to do my F###ing Job and get the F##K out of here.

Wow, I do a double take and said why are you being so rude and no need to talk this way. I walk out of there and went to the hospital down the street. I purhased some large bandages and antibiotic ointment. We go to the car wash, put a stitch in his ear with sewing needle and monafilament, bandage it all up real good and was hunting on Day 3.

Not sure if the vet was having a bad day, just didnt like me or that is just him but I sure was shocked at his customer service skills. He didnt have another animal in the office so not sure why he treated me this way.

Thoughts?

Never had anything but good, courteous service with these folks. Very helpful and friendly. Don't know what happened. My buddy's dog got a severe laceration on opening day, after hours. Called Redfield, vet met him, cleaned up cut, 28 sutures, anesthesia, antibiotics. Great service. We all were shocked at the bill when he got back to the house. Total bill was $240.

would by nice to know which one to avoid.......on the other hand it wouldn't take long to figure it out on your own....:(

Im going to get flamed for this but...
If the vet did indeed say that..something happened prior to that....something

This was the office on 7th avenue (Hwy 212). I went there last Friday about 2 pm. I dont think I said anything to set him off but dont think that type of response is ever warranted from anybody in any setting. Pike is okay and the wound is almost healed so no worries. The lesson I learn is to have a better first aid kit for the dog and be more careful of where the dog is relative to barb wire fences.

you can't always keep your dog out of harm's way.....but no matter the situation, you sought the help of a professional who acted like an amateur.
