Rain!

More of the country is in drought right now than it has been since the drought monitor started keeping track of it in 1980.

It's ugly dry out there. Consider yourself very fortunate if moisture comes from the sky.

Water in some low spots, things are greening up…should be bugs soon, I’d suspect…mating activity everywhere…not me, the critters…only a thermonuclear device detonated somewhere close by could screw this season up…I’m guessing that won’t happen. I’m stealing lunch $ from young children to pay for my gas this fall…gotta do what you have to do! 😜

We haven't had any measurable rain here in MN since April now. 20 days. Luckily, there is ample rain in the forecast tonight and tomorrow.

My area of SD has had the last few decent forecasted rain events fizzle into something markedly less…today included…but better than nothing! We need insect production…

It's a cold rain today. I see a few duck and geese have hatched...any pheasant yet? Hope the little Chiclets survive this rain.

Just watched US Farm Journal, they focused on MN being way ahead of schedule with planting…I assume N IA and SE SD in similar shape…very modest rainfall in past month+, basically…if trend continues, as it appears it will in my area, good in a way for chicks, but I worry about insect production…always something to worry about! I’m gonna juxtapose last April, May, June rain totals with this year, sans June…I’ll report back…best I can tell, we’re at about 1/2 since 4/1 vs ‘25…3” vs 6”….i’m doing my rain dance…moderate rain dance…😊

Rain in the forecast 6 days in a row starting tomorrow…not 80, 90% chances, but some days it’s a decent chance…likely we’ll catch some, hope it’s not too much as chicks hatch…lows appear to be in the low 60’s, not bad…
