Just a note--started recording rain fall here in the Platte area on 18 May 2013.

18 thru end of May 3.72"
JUN 4.25"
Jul 1.98"
note: readings are taken a 8 AM daily so this mornings 31 Jul reading completes the month of JUL.

This is lots better than last year and it sure shows

Wow got exactly 2.00" of rain from 8 AM to 1 PM today--that should make the corn crop and give everything else a great boost--even the weeds :D

Isn't it ironic this is delaying my wheat harvest so now it is rain rain go away song:)

Sounds like I will be back doing another flushing bar survey on the same ground in another week! ARRGGGHHH

Never seen so much dust in May Jim and so much corn with 2 ears on a stalk now.

Need to plant higher populations. One big ear better than two smaller. Just because I like you I can come and custom farm it for you. Than you can see what modern farming practices can accomplish.

Moe, you should move your operation out here. I was looking at some corn yesterday that was 8' tall and hadn't even tassled yet. Plus they will dry up all the rivers to make sure you have water even in drought years. and you can get wheat, corn, corn or wheat, corn, sudan or a bunch of alf alpha cuts out of every field.

Moe, the guys that are harvesting my wheat are some youngsters. they are planting conventional corn with micronutrients and foliar feeding. I am afraid they have drank the same Kool-Aid I have. They have 3 ears of corn on theirs. Not good!?

That does sound like a good tip on pops. I am selling my 5th week of hunting so I can put no-tills on my drill. Is that sick or what?

Hail report

Went to Mitchell today and there was a lot of storm damage in the Parkston area. Looks as if a small tornado went thru at the Hiway 44/37 junction--not to bad but not good either. What was sad to see was the TOTAL crop destruction by hail from the north end to town up Hwy 37 for several miles ---10 ft tall corn striped and beans left with just the main stem--really really bad. I don't know the total area hit but what I saw was real bad.:(

I will check that out on the ride home Jim. I remember them getting hit hard a couple years ago too north or parkston.

Rains every evening and they can't get wheat out. Weeds are serious issue now so I think I will have to have it sprayed again.
