Questions on hunt titles

Ok I need some advise on hunt titles and dog letters. I know what it means when a dog has a JH, SH, or MH behind it name but what are some of the other letters and what do they mean? Also is there anyone that can send me to a book that talks about all the terms trainers use to describe hunt test situations i.e. retired gun, etc? There are so many terms, tests, situations that I know nothing about. I am joining a training club to learn and help me become a better trainer but I am a little shy of trying different hunt tests because I do not know what is involved and what some of the terminology means. Is there a book or article that makes sense of all of this?

Check out RetreiverTraining.net. There is a GOT "glossary of terms" that's pretty good. If you still have questions give me shout and I will try to help. Four Points Retreiver Club has a "training etiquette" guideline on there website that will make you a good training partner.

Come up to Central Minnesta Retreiver Club June 12-14. We are hosting the largest Hunt Test in the Midwest (300 dogs entered). I am running 3-4 dogs Friday but will be there all 3 days. Come to the Senior stake Sunday and ask the Marshall (she will have a clip board) for Steve. I will give you a tour of the facility, and introduce you to some great dog people. Anyone in the club house can direct you to seniors.

Gatzby be careful suggesting someone use the RTF forums. Last time I directed someone over to that site, which I really like, the moderators on here blasted me for it. That said, the RTF forums can teach you a lot. Great site as well as this one.

Thanks Steve, I might show up on Saturday my Sunday job keeps me busy.

I am running test dog for the master A stake on Fri/Sat. Look me up!

What time does the master series start on Saturday? I am assuming if you run the test dog that it is the first dog before they start the series?

It should start at 8:00 am. I'm pretty sure I've never seen one start on time yet!!!
