Question

i would like to know can pheasants see color i was blocking a corn patch and a rooster was flying right at me and suddenly veered off made me think damn can he see orange or what and no ididnt move if you dont know for sure please dont answer tell me how you know and where you learned this from thanks

Did you make any sudden movements or any movemants at all? I was blocking in a wheat stubble and crouched down real low and didn't move. The hens started flying right over the top of me without hesitation after a few minutes of silence. One started my way and I started to shoulder my gun a bit and it veered hard away. It's surprising what those little beady eyes can pick out. They're definately survivors!!! :D

I'm going to go into the book of Waterfowl Basics, Your Face, when you look up at the birds puts off a sheen that the birds see and will veer away. That is why you will see a lot of duck hunters with camo on their faces. It scares the birds. I cannot see why a wild Pheasant will not be afraid of that very same thing.........Bob

Daggum. Just how ugly do you think OnlyAPointer is???:p Maybe he needs some botox or even a hockey mask.

Birds do see color. That's why males are more colorful, it's used in mating displays. Gotta remember, if they were dumb, they would be all gone by now!

I know ducks and geese can see color and I don't see why other birds couldn't. Geese can see the yellow corn left in the corn fields after its been cut. If you look down a corn field you can see it to but you gotta look for it, you'll see its very yellow if they haven't gotten to it yet.
