I can't give my dogs a fair amount of time in the field as it is hunting pheasant, quail and woodcock but I would really like to do some duck hunting.

amazing, we also have a game xmas party, this year really different item was beaver tail, don't waste your money on that one

Pheasant and Waterfowl for me. Used to rabbit hunt with beagles a lot, not so much the last few yrs. Not many rabbits around anymore and no places to hunt due to developement. Also used to deer hunt, gave that up a long time ago. Too boring for me!

It seems this question was already asked but anyway a guy can't chase upland birds year around. Without predators, turkeys, deer, ducks, fishing, and whatever else you can find in the outdoors you'd be leave a pretty boring lifre for 8 or so months.

bird seasnos

you are right about that, years ago when i was wound up on bowhuntng i could hunt big game someplace in the u.s. nearly 11 months a year, the rest of the time i spent with wife. not much i haven't shot with the bow, now it is just turkey, gettin old

I "kill" a deer a year (any legal small-medium sized meat deer), preferably before bird season opens (as I did this year). I "hunt" pheasant almost exclusively when conditions are suitable from Oct 1st until the season closes Dec 15th, interrupted only by a few duck hunts when conditions are more suitable for that (nor'easters). Dec 15-Jan 15 I go after corn-fattened mallards and some other waterfowl. After that, I might hunt showshoe hare once or twice, but that will be about it. This year, there is a pheasant preserve open 90 minutes from home, so I might go and spend a few bucks to scratch the itch later this winter. Then it's time for brook trout, then striped bass, then a few smallie/pickerel outings, and finish off in late summer/early fall with some mackerel/pollock/cod/flouder fishing trips, then it's full circle back to archery deer season in late September! And around we go!

Sept 15 and the next month a few trips chasing grouse in D'a UP of Michigan.
Preserve pheasants starts end of October through December. Throw in our South Dakota pheasant trip early November. Bow Hunt a little during rut and Gun Hunt at camp for Deer 11/15 - 11/20. Walleye begins first saturday in May. Smallie/Musky fishing during summer months then begin again in September.
