Went to the vet yesterday to get round three of shots for my new boy Jax. When we went in, we were greeted by 8 Austrailian Shepard pups and two blue heeler pups and the owners. We were all there for shots...so it was an assembly line with 11 puppies in all. 10 were crybabies but Jax the GSP took it like a man.

BIRD DOGS RULE!

I have a similar story...

Had to take my fiance's (2) house dogs to get their rabies shots, and thought I would take Grace along (my GSP) to weigh her. Well apparently it was a clinic day at the local vet and everyone and their brother had their cats and dogs there! The line was atleast 10 deep with dogs pissing everywhere and one even threw up. I walked right in and told Grace to heel. Of course she wanted to sniff around a little but I kept a firm grip on her and keep telling her..."HEEL". Needless to say we walked right in, I threw her on the scale and we were out of there. I was very proud of her and the way she obeyed in those circumstances.

I've got 2 litters of setter pups in the house right now. Been in for both sets to get dew claws removed. There sure is an odd assortment of mixes coming and going. I worry taking in unprotected pups that haven't had their shots yet. It doesn't take much to take parvo home with you. I really like to give my own shots through the first 16 weeks. I tell my customers to not air their pups at gas stations or roadside parks on the way home for the same reason. I usually stop at some crop field where no other dogs have probably visited. You do need to be careful there as well. I had a buddy that ran his pups in the pasture and picked up parvo from coyote poop! Lost every pup in that litter except the one I had already taken home. Glad you have a newbie Jim!
