Ken, here is one I tried with my dog who has seasonal allergies. Not sure it did a whole lot for allergies, but might be perfect for what you need. Very reasonable cost. It combines Probiotics with digestive enzymes. I had a 200gr bottle that lasted darn near a year. http://www.nzymes.com/store/pc/BacPak-Plus-for-Pets-200-Grams-7p8.htm
LOL ya got me and no worry, it is a nice new topic for guys to check out. And hopefully build future knowledge for our hunting partners health. Probiotics are the flora or living bacteria in the GI or intestinal tract. AKA the "good bacteria". They help break down the food as it passes through the intestines. Getting the most out of the food. It helps with the coat, energy, recovery, teeth, breath, farts, stools and so on. The over all general health of the dog. Prebiotics are sort of a food for probiotics so to speak, I gather, and some enzymes do sort of the same thing during ingestion through the mouth, and also in the GI tract. They all break down certain parts of the food so to speak so the dog benefits fully from the food. These good bacteria get lost or killed off from, wormer's, antibiotics, city chlorinated water, stress from hunting and travel and vigorous training. Some dogs get the time and also the ability to replenish them and not really need them. But some dogs worked hard combined with the stress-ors above need help getting them back in and on track. Even food changes can cause it. I am no expert, but you can find about a gazillion different things on the market. And enough to keep you reading for months.
The biggest thing is Antibiotics killing both good and bad bacteria. So supplementing probiotics I have found out is of great value to our dogs, and I learned that from that Vet in Beatrice NE. To me from what I have learned, this is a very good thing for all to check in to.
And no I still don't understand them fully, I can't read half he words they are made up of, LOL All I know is what I seen it do for others dogs and also what others told me.
