Pollinator Mix Going In

I'd think your 30 day cold stratified forbs will struggle/ suffer under this much cover. (As nice as it is) My February frost seeding are only about an inch high right now and that's in full sun. Sowed into a soybean field. Your C-30,60, and 90 day stratification seeds are the bulk of the expense in a pollinator seed mix. A code forbs are cheap comparatively.

Did NRCS recommend a second year mowing schedule?

Eesh now you’ve got me worried. They recommended I mow once the first year and as needed years 2 and 3 to control unwanteds. I didn’t think/wasn’t told to mow during the second year growing season since now those stratified forbs will just be starting off and need light. But it was pretty thin density wise at the end of year 1 so mowing that year or the next wasn’t on my mind. Now, it’s 3+ft tall so pretty late to start that. Hmm, the challenge of drilling the seed in late spring and not stratifying it when a large component of the mix requires it. 😕
