Pistol Shooting?

With it officially "offseason" I have begun to get into pistol shooting to keep my my addiction fed. Does anyone here frequent any gun ranges? If so, I am always looking for people to go to the range with as I do not have many friends who enjoy pistol shooting. I frequent the burnsville pistol range quite a bit. If anyone else has any recommendations of good ranges I would love to hear them. Thanks!

I've shot in Burnsville many times, but I also use Bill's in Robbinsdale quite often. It a nice place and the prices are reasonable.

A question for all you Pistoleer's out there.

What would you recommend as a first handgun purchase? This would be used for occasional range use and home protection.

Inexpensive:
Ruger Mark III 24/45 + any old 12ga shotgun (don't go overboard with that hecksaw!! Remember - 18/26. Measure 7 times, cut once. :D:D:D )
Pricey:
Sig Sauer P220 or P226 in .45 with a .22LR Rimfire Conversion Kit.

First?

Consider and investigate surplus CZ82, 9x18 mak. In between .380 and 9mm, used as service pistol for years, light trigger, 11 rounds, and absurdly inexpensive. Built to last.

Very easy to be accurate with.

Be safe, have fun.

Although alot of people give it mixed reviews I love my Smith and Wesson Sigma 40 SVE.. You can buy them new on sale around 300.. Smith and Wesson has one of the greatest warranties around.. American made product and its backed by a solid company. Your not going to knock a beer can off someones head at 50 feet but it will put a bullet in the area you need if shit ever hits the fan..

Plinking and target shooting have become too expensive for me. I shoot a bunch of clays each year with the shotguns but center fire pistol and rifle are just too expensive to bang away for me. My pistols get carried often but shot very little.

I long ago went with a S&W Model 19/4"....using +P 38s or WCs rather than 357s.
Added a Model 18/4" for less expensive practice or plinking.

Bought a S&W M&P 40 and the same M&P in 22 for daughter and SIL.

Following the same principle, regardless of maker or type of handgun, is a workable idea for either use or wise familiarization with the choice.

I had a Springfield subcompact 40 and loved it! Sold last it last summer because I didn't have a use for it.

i just picked up a sig 1911 22 for dirt cheap. feels like a real 1911 but you can shoot it all day for less than a single box of 45's. just went shooting last weekend and we had 20 guns with us and my buddies all like it.

I Like my Kimbers 1911's sold my S&w's after shooting a friends Kimber 1911 gran raptor. The custom shop models are awsome.

Like Op stated do to the expence of ammo in 45 I don't shoot them as much as I use to.:)

I think Jmc also is a fan of Kimbers. Maybe he will chime in on this thread.
