I've been raising birds for the last 4 years and have released birds before that other people have raised. The pen raised birds that are released can survive for a while and once in a while they might even pull off a nest. But I wouldn't expect to have a population of pheasants established by releasing pen raised birds. PA has been releasing 200,000 birds per year and they don't work when trying to establish a population. If you want the birds you buy to reproduce you might have better luck if you keep them in a flight pen.
Each year the club down the road releases 200 birds and a hunt club a few miles away releases several thousand and we don't have wild birds in the area. Something to think about.
