Pheasants Forever Getting in the "Forecast" Game

Just got an email on this

I noticed when GFP did their update is was not posted as news on the PF site. Unusual. This may be why.

Regardless, I feel it is misleading and woefully inaccurate. If for no other reason that these 3 factors: 1). The whole state is not in a drought 2). The whole state did not have a harsh winter and 3). No forecast mention the drought busting rain events in July and August.
 
Drought may be busted but majority of the young chicks died in the drought in June. So it's great that the rains finally came. However the rain fell too late to save the chicks. So from a pheasant reproduction perspective it doesn't really matter that the drought busting rains came in July and August. The rain will however help grow what cover is left. So that is a plus, as they will need all the cover they can get when winter comes. As a lot of it has been cut this summer.
