Our First Sharptails & Ruffs

Since my Pup has been doing so well on Pheasants, I decided to head north to the Canadian border country for a try at Ruff and Sharptail Grouse. This would be her first trip and first time out for a different bird, I was eager to see how she'd do. The Ruff's were real tough to find and we only seen six of which four were shot at and bagged. The Sharptail had been hunted hard and were real spooky. Elsie was very impressive and really worked the Sharptail well. For the two day trip we took 5 Sharptail and four Ruff's. We hunted from sunup till sundown both days. We both slept very well at night.

We had these three birds by noon on Friday.

She hates getting her picture taken, as you can see by her expression, especially when there's birds to be hunted. This is her first Sharptail.

very nice pictures. i've always wanted to take my dogs on some grouse hunts. we run into them every once in a while in ND. nice looking dogs too. good for them to see something different. Did you get any nice points or were the bird getting up to far?

:coolpics:Nice, I love to grouse hunt too but the ruffies, I can't connect with most of the time. When I am bow hunting they walk by and I think you little sucker, I auta , well you get the pic. Nice dog and birds.:thumbsup:
