Old school

I spent over 20 minutes looking for a bird a few days ago, encouraging the pup who kept giving up on it. Finally, I heard wings flap and then silence. GPS had her 100 yards away. Walked to her and she is laying on it in a pile of feathers. It wasnt tore up, but dead. Wouldve liked to see how that went down.
Losing a bird drives me nuts. A guy shouldnt hunt if they routinely lose wounded birds. At least try to fix whatever the problem is.
Love the patience! We give up too easy sometimes. This sends a bad message to the puppy. I was ready to give up on Willow two weeks ago but one of my best friends has a Vizsla also who is two and just a fantastic dog. We continued the search and his dog located it after about 15
Minutes.

We always look hard, sometimes come back later. My young dog is on it for a foot issue. We lost one the other day in deadfall and brush.I couldn't get in there or my old dog.

Even if it wasn't required, I'd wear it. Quite honestly if someone showed up to hunt with me even if it wasn't required, they wouldn't be hunting with me very long.

Its a safety issue for this guy.

I'm glad Montana and a lot of other states don't require orange. I always wear it pheasant hunting regardless. That said the MN dnr regulation book is longer than Leviticus and just as dense. When I went on my prairie grouse trip I didn't wear any. It helped when this grandpa was creeping by in his truck, trying to poach my spot. He never did see me.
